Well. We did it (as most of you know). We ran 13.1 miles, WITHOUT stopping I might add. My husband is a ... motivator ... you would say. He's the type of person that kills themselves to say they did it and to prove to themselves they can, and I'm the type that makes up excuses to stop, or go slower, or take the easy way. I wish I was the other type but alas, I am not. My mister balances me out though. And pushes me to do things I can't. Just FYI, if you ever do the White Rock 1/2 or full, the first 5 miles is FULL of hills. Lovely. On one of the last hills I remember thinking to myself "Oh my gosh, I'm not going to be able to finish this thing. These hills are going to ruin it for me!" (mind you, I had trained for the WHOLE thing indoors on a treadmill, I maybe ran outside 3 times and it was 4 mile runs, nothing near long distance) and then, I look up and all the sudden this tiny little marathon woman is running in front of us, and she has on a running shirt that, on the back says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phil 4:13. And that did it. I knew I could finish. I knew I could do it. Just from that tiny lady in the red running shirt with the Bible verse on the back. Let me tell you it's the most rewarding thing to finish one of those. 13.1 miles now doesn't seem like that big a deal next to all those people that went for the 26.2. But it was a big deal to a person that always says "I could never do that" and "I'm not cut out for that kind of stuff" ... well, I can and I did do it. And I THINK I'm going to do it again soon. I'm not sure I'm a full-type of girl (Matt is wanting to do a full), but these halves are pretty dang addicting. And I'm so SO glad to have done my first with my husband. It is something I will never forget, and I will never forget that he was right there, by my side, telling me I could do it, and to keep going, and that I was doing great, when everything from my thighs down were aching with pain and screaming that I couldn't. I have a wonderful mister. And I'm SO thankful for him. Now, if I could just walk normal again, that would be fantastic. Here are some pics of us (I didn't take many because, GUESS what happened ... the camera died, OF course) Plus, Matt is not too fond of chronicling every event that happens in our life unlike me. He gives me a ... ahem, hard time ... whenever I want to take pictures. Sooner or later he'll give up that fight. I hope ...
(freezing our fannies off I might add, 70 degrees my rear!)
(pardon the no make-up, nasty post 13.1 mile look, sick)
And when we finished we ate this ...
here ...
It was our reward. I will run another half marathon 20 times if that is my reward again. 1/3 lb burger with swiss cheese, mushrooms and onions with FRINGS (if you don't know what those are, you must get some ASAP, they are onion rings and fries in one order, gorgeous) yes please!
And that. Is all I got. In the way of pictures that is. Sad huh? My next half will be picturific, don't you worry! Thanks for all your support and well-wishes! You guys ROCK (hee, get it ... ? White Rock? I know I'm ridiculous, I just can't help myself)
