Eleven Months!

Less than a month.  A MONTH.  My little man will be a year.  Time really does fly.  I'm pretty sure that saying was made up by a mom.  I can't believe this is the 2nd to the last of these posts.  Sniff, sniff.

Okay, I better just post these pics before I actually start crying.

{Really?  We're going to do this right now?  Can't you see I'm conducting serious business?}

{Alright, alright, hold on, I have to make one more call ...}

{Now what was that number again?  Where's my secretary when I need her ...?}

{Oh THAT'S right, 9-1-1.}

{Hmmmm.  Maybe not, they don't seem too amused by my eleven month old babble and keep asking if my mommy's here.}

{Let's try that other place my mom keeps saying I'm going to call one day ... I think it's called ... CHINA!}

{Darnit, it's that same lady I get every time.  The one that keeps telling me my call cannot be connected as dialed.  Why does she live at everyone's house I try to call?}

{Hey, what do you think you're doing?  Give that back!  I was in the middle of an important call!  Plus I LOVE THE PHONE!}

{NOOOOO!!!  WHY GOD!?!?  WHY WOULD YOU LET HER TAKE MY PRECIOUS!?!?}

{Fine.  You take my phone?  I'm jumping off this chair.}

End photoshoot.

This seems to be a recurring theme since this little toot became mobile.

And this was the closest version of a smile I got.  I'm pretty sure it was a result of him giggling at me freaking out when he tried to dive at the camera.  Funny mommy.

Happy eleven months my little angel.  I can't wait to celebrate one of the greatest days of my life, your BIRFDAY, in a month!!!

How lucky I am?

Pumpkins With My Punkin!

There is a pumpkin patch literally across the street from our neighborhood.  And it's FINALLY feeling a little bit like fall outside (i.e. the high's haven't been in the 90's this weekend).  So what did I do?  Dress my child up in just enough "fall-looking" clothing to where he'd be barely sweating but appear to be comfortably warm and sit him smack dab in the middle of them for a fall photo shoot.

{"Mom, what's wrong with these basketballs?"}

{"And WHERE are my sunglasses, GEEZ this orange is reflective!"}

{"Tee hee hee hee.  These basketballs have hats on.  Tee hee hee hee."}

{"Phew.  Now I can sit in my dad-shadow and not be blinded."}

{"Oh look at this tiny basketball.  This basketball is just MY size!"}

{"Mom, how am I supposed to dribble this?  Maybe it's a tennis ball ..."}

{"What the heck is wrong with this basketball?  It's got warts or something?  Or maybe it spit up.  I think it needs a burp cloth mom.  Ewwwwww."}

{"Warts and stringy stuff on the ground.  Stringy scratchy stuff ..."}

{"OH, H-AAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!}

And then, it was time to leave.  Because I couldn't get him to look at the camera AND because I was starting to sweat in my short sleeve shirt so I figured C couldn't be too comfortable either.

I hope y'all enjoyed the first weekend of October as much as we did!  Here's to the start of my three favorite months of the year, October - December!

C-Money

My mom's gettin' a LITTLE selfish and postin' all these posts with NO pictures of me in them! Doesn't she know I'm the star of her blog? Duh.

So what have I been up to?

Playin' with mommy's bangle bracelets (don't tell daddy).

Sitting in big boy chairs in dressing rooms while my mom tries stuff on (don't mind the Tech logo, sic 'em bears!)

Checkin' out my new walker (which mommy walks behind me holding my PJs when I use).

And having play time with mommy.

And a whole bunch of other things too like eating the ends of the door stoppers (ahem, giving my mommy a heart attack) standing alone not holding on to anything and missing my daddy because he's been out of town. I'm ready for a fun weekend but most of all, COOLER WEATHER (what? You can tell this is my mommy speaking? How?!?)

Clothes-fused.

I'll be the first to tell you that I love me some fashion.  Clothes, accessories, shoes, purses.  All of it.  And don't even GET me started about baby clothes.  LOVE.

However there is one time of year, in Texas that is, I get royally clothes-fused.  And it's also one of my favorite times of year.  That time is fall.  Right now.  First of all, Labor Day happens.  The day that, after it comes and goes, bans you from wearing white pants/shoes/etc.  Which is fine.  Whatevs.

Next, the stores start filling up with the cuteness that is fall fashion.  Boots, scarves, deep, rich colors, turtle necks, cowl necks, leggings.  Basically all of my favorite articles of clothing start showing up everywhere I look.  I am oh so tempted, not only to buy all of these lovely little pretties (and then I remind myself I'm a stay at home mom married to a budgeting accountant and snap out of it) but to drag all of the ones currently taking residence in my closet out as well.

And then ...
I walk outside.
And it's 95 degrees.  And it remains 95 degrees until mid to late October.  Enter Texas fall.

Hence where the clothes-fused comes out.  Um.  It's October.  I don't want to can't wear strapless sundresses, shorts and white pants.  And aside from that, my tan faded a good month ago so I SHOULDN'T wear them for fear of burning people's retinas.  Aside from that the fact that everything, everywhere is screaming FALL.

So until an ACTUAL cold front moves through (not one where it drops the temps to a mere 87 degrees) I will be sporting a tank top ... over leggings ...and flip flops ... with a scarf and gloves.  Feel free to make fun of me if you run into me in the metroplex.

Other Texans, anyone else have this problem?  How do you pull off fall fashion without turning into a sweaty mess?

Are You A Spinner?

Let me start by saying I don't even know what that means.  I THINK it might be something inappropriate, but I'm not sure.  Maybe I should google this stuff before I post it as a title for my blog ...

Yeah.
Don't google that.
It's definately inappropriate.
Sorry 'bout that.

Let's just go on to say that by "Are You A Spinner?" I was referring to spin cycling class.  Because I KIND OF am.  Since I go to maybe 1-3 spin classes a month, on a good month.  So since I kind of am I can say what I'm about to say with full confidence.

Spinners are WEIRD.

Last Saturday I went to a spin class.  Upon starting the class I looked around and thought, "Okay, this is a pretty normal looking group.  Maybe the circus spinner freaks are still asleep."  I got on my bike and began to warm up.  No freakiness had reared it's ugly head yet so I figured we were still in the clear.  And then the techno started.

"Oh heavens, I'm going to have to go through a whole class feeling like I need a glow stick."

About 3 minutes in and our tiny instructor starts making this noise.  I can only assume it's her "encouragement noise" but it sounded exactly like the sound a police car makes when a policeman flicks his warning siren on.

"Oh fun, now I need a glow stick AND a police uniform."

About the time I finally get used to The Siren (that's what we'll call her from now on) a man walks in late and sits on a bike in front of The Siren.  She seems to know him so I immediately assume he'll be making some other rescue vehicle noise.  But was I ever wrong.

All of the sudden, after one of The Siren's hoots he lets out what I can only describe as the sound someone makes when they do a karate chop mixed with the "OohRah" sound a Marine yells.

"Fantastic, now I need a glow stick, a police uniform and ... heck I just need ear muffs for all three of them."

Once Sergeant Miyagi (that's what we'll call him) started he pretty much kept in time with The Siren.  From the minute this chorus of annoyance started it literally lasted until I jumped my sweaty self off my bike.  In between I noticed a woman, with her eyes closed (actually, rolled back in her head is more accurate) and hands raised, a man that I THINK was dancing but it looked more like he was having convulsions and another girl that would nod her head after each round of the chorus was performed.  Needless to say I think I was more mentally exhausted than physically exhausted by the time it was all said and done.

Like I said.
Spinners are WEIRD.

Best. Husband. Ever.

I just opened my computer to find ...

Man am I a lucky girl.
